What is a Spotify Canvas?
A Spotify Canvas is that short, 8-second looping video that plays in the background when you listen to a song on the Spotify mobile app. It replaces the static album artwork with a dynamic, engaging visual. Artists who use Canvas see much higher track sharing numbers and lower skip rates because the visual hooks the listener.
However, Spotify has very strict requirements for the video file. It has to be vertical, exactly the right aspect ratio, and under 8 seconds long. This tool handles all of that formatting for you.
How to create your Canvas
Upload a video clip that you want to loop. The tool will automatically crop it to the strict 9:16 vertical ratio that Spotify demands. You can drag the video around to make sure the best part is centered.
Next, use the timeline to select the exact 3 to 8 second snippet you want to use. We highly recommend testing the "Bounce Loop" toggle, which plays the video forward and then in reverse so it loops perfectly without a harsh cut. Once it looks good, export the MP4 and upload it directly to your Spotify for Artists dashboard.

Does the video include sound?
No. Spotify completely strips the audio from the Canvas video anyway, so our tool removes the audio track during export to keep the file size as small as possible.
What is the "Bounce Loop" feature?
If your video clip doesn't naturally loop, it will violently snap back to the beginning every 8 seconds. A bounce loop plays the video forward, and then perfectly in reverse, creating a seamless, hypnotic loop.
Can I upload a Canvas if I am an independent artist?
Yes! As long as you have claimed your Spotify for Artists profile, you can upload a Canvas for any track you have released, regardless of whether you have a record label.
